Bogus numbers
[edit]"The website gets approximately 280,000 unique hits per day, and 2.2 million per month."
These numbers are either horribly out of date, or entirely bogus. Recent information states numbers such as 330,000 unique visitors per day and 2.2 billion page views per month. (No, that's not a typo - the site just has incredibly active user base.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.233.25.173 (talk) 20:30, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Irc-galleria.png
[edit]Image:Irc-galleria.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:43, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Foreigners/Speaking Finnish Rule
[edit]Anyone know how foreigners are supposed to sign up? I can speak some Finnish (I kinda thought I could use this to improve) when I sign up, it tells me I need to send and SMS, which is not possible because I ain't in Finland. Does IRC have any facility for people not resident to Finland and would a foreigner be tolerated provided they only used Finnish? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.42.175.133 (talk) 01:08, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
If you use a paid email account to register, such as one from your university or other one like that (hotmail accounts don't do), you don't have to send an SMS. It is used only to recognize the user. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.153.18.27 (talk) 18:58, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

All the issues?
[edit]What's up with all the issues this has been flagged with? I do agree with the "additional citations needed" and that the article has to be updated but in what way this is "unbalanced" or does not fit the notability guidelines? In the 00's IRC-Galleria easily had an Alexa rank among the top 10 Finnish websites and according to TNS Gallup, IRC-galleria was among the top 10 websites in Finland as well (see for example "Viikko: 2008/1" at http://tnsmetrix.tns-gallup.fi/public/). Searching "irc-galleria" at hs.fi (the largest newspaper in Finland) produces ca. 100 articles where the site is mentioned or discussed, all the way up to 2018. Back in the day, there was even a police officer "patrolling" the site (http://vintti.yle.fi/ohjelmat.yle.fi/poliisitv/raportit/fobba_irc_galleria.html) and giving advice to the teenage users. IRC-Galleria also launched a hugely popular election compass application in 2007 (https://www.savonsanomat.fi/kotimaa/Irc-galleria-vie-kuntavaalit-nuorten-ruudulle/588998) for the Finnish parliamentary election with over 170 000 users and again for the 2008 municipal elections. By all means IRC-Galleria is very notable in Finnish web history! JJohannes (talk) 10:34, 28 July 2018 (UTC)
