I see that there is already a "citation needed" tag on this part of the article, but I'm interested in why there was an age limit on who could cross the checkpoint to begin with, and why it was slowly lowered before the crossing was ultimately opened. Can someone please elaborate on the reasoning behind this (for example, what pedestrian age has to do with security?). I know nothing on this subject, so if it is something really obvious it may need to be spelled out in case there are other readers like me. 76.177.42.68 (talk) 10:29, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
