Lewin is listed as Jewish but the source appears to be in Hebrew so I am not able to judge its validity. However, almost all online references, including obituaries, mention that his parents were Anglican missionaries in South Africa and his father was a priest. The Lewin surname is often Jewish but not exclusively. A more definitive source is required. EricWR (talk) 21:47, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Given that the statement and reference were added on 19 January 2019 by an anonymous editor, I too am doubtful about this. LynwoodF (talk) 15:47, 11 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I have now managed to see the English text. His mother was of Polish Jewish descent, but his surname is thought to be English. LynwoodF (talk) 18:10, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for completing the research. I have changed Category:South African Jews to Category:South African people of Polish-Jewish descent. EricWR (talk) 02:28, 25 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
