Hello! I am the author's assistant and as such it seems I can't make changes. However this is woefully out of date so I hope someone can help. I've posted the additions here. I also need to make pages for the books that are not on here, for example book 1 and 2 of the series have their own pages but not book 3. Any advice on how to get that done would be welcome. Thanks.

ADD: her Folk of the Air series has debuted at #1 so I would put that in place of or in addition to the first sentence, as it is outdated.

"She lives in New England with her husband and son" can replace the " In 2008 she was described as residing in Amherst, Massachusetts.[6]" Source can be her Scholastic bio, Goodreads, or any other source from after 2008. https://www.scholastic.com/teachers/authors/holly-black/ https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/25422.Holly_Black

LITERARY CAREER

"A standalone novel, The Coldest Girl in Coldtown, was released by Little, Brown in September 2013.[9]" This was a finalist for an Andre Norton Award (now called a Nebula) https://www.sfadb.com/Andre_Norton_Award_2014

"In 2012, Scholastic acquired a five-book series written by Black and Cassandra Clare to be called Magisterium. Its first volume, The Iron Trial, was published on September 9, 2014.[12]" This whole five book series has now been published. Please update. Please note each book was nominated Goodreads Choice Award Nominee for Middle Grade & Children's for the year it published

She has published several books since this has been edited:

The Darkest Part of the Forest in 2015 marked a return to Faerie https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Darkest_Part_of_the_Forest (this is also a page that could use some work) It won awards http://www.ala.org/awardsgrants/darkest-part-forest and was nominated for a Mythopoeic Award https://www.sfadb.com/Mythopoeic_Awards_2016

In 2017 she published The Cruel Prince, a Locus Award nominee, a Lodestar finalist, and the first in her Folk of the Air series. https://www.sfadb.com/Holly_Black

The sequel The Wicked King debuted at #1 on the New York Times Bestseller list and was also a finalist for a Lodestar Award in 2020 (link) https://www.nytimes.com/books/best-sellers/2019/01/26/young-adult-hardcover/ With the release of Queen of Nothing in Nov 2019, the complete series debuted at #3 https://www.nytimes.com/books/best-sellers/2019/12/08/series-books/

A companion illustrated novella called How The King of Elfhame Learned To Hate Stories is slated for November 2020 https://www.lbyr.com/titles/holly-black/how-the-king-of-elfhame-learned-to-hate-stories/9780316540889/ (we will have to change this in November, obviously)

There's a little more but this is the main stuff. I look forward to working with you to improve the site! Thanks! AssistantAtHollyBlack (talk) 15:48, 8 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Oh also there's Lucifer stuff and for some reason the new author photo was taken down? Not sure why that was objectionable, if you could clarify why an old picture is more informative or helpful than a newer one, it would be helpful for the future. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AssistantAtHollyBlack (talkcontribs) 16:31, 8 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I've restored the new photo. My guess is that it was taken down because you added it at the same time as a bunch of more questionable edits. Maproom (talk) 15:18, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Adding books, awards, slight correction in bio

[edit]

Thank you thank you Valereee I appreciate you taking time when you are so busy. I hope I am doing this correctly.

It would be great to add "and the Folk of the Air series" after "the young adult fantasy trilogy Modern Faerie Tales" as it's a more recent series that she's known for and has won awards (see below).

Bio She does, in fact, live in Amherst, MA. I'm not sure what a good link to that info would be - it's on her website but I think that's not a good source for Wiki so perhaps this article? https://www.bostonglobe.com/lifestyle/names/2017/05/31/amherst-author-now-has-actual-elf-ears/eGzAGYSfjtLAdabb8lddoI/story.html

Literary Career -Can we add in the that Coldest Girl in Coldtown was Nebula Finalist that year (https://nebulas.sfwa.org/nominated-work/the-coldest-girl-in-coldtown-2/)

The 5 book Magisterium Series ended with Golden Tower in 2018.

Not sure how to word the rest appropriately, so just going on how the other part is written: The Darkest Part of the Forest in 2015 marked a return to Faerie, and in 2017 she published The Cruel Prince, a Locus Award nominee (https://locusmag.com/2019/06/2019-locus-awards-winners/), a Lodestar (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lodestar_Award_for_Best_Young_Adult_Book) finalist,(http://www.thehugoawards.org/hugo-history/2019-hugo-awards/) and the first in her Folk of the Air series.

The sequel The Wicked King debuted at #1 on the New York Times Bestseller list and was also a finalist for a Lodestar Award in 2020 (http://www.thehugoawards.org/hugo-history/2020-hugo-awards/) (https://www.nytimes.com/books/best-sellers/2019/01/26/young-adult-hardcover/) With the release of Queen of Nothing in Nov 2019, the complete series debuted at #3 https://www.nytimes.com/books/best-sellers/2019/12/08/series-books/

Awards:

Wicked King https://www.fictiondb.com/awards/2019~goodreads-choice-award~98.htm Lodestar Finalist https://www.sfadb.com/Lodestar_Award_2019 Locus Finalist https://www.sfadb.com/Locus_Awards_2020

Cruel Prince https://www.fictiondb.com/awards/2019~locus-award~155.htm Lodestar Finalist https://www.sfadb.com/Lodestar_Award_2019 Locus Finalist https://www.sfadb.com/Locus_Awards_2019

Thank you for all your help and if I need to do something further please let me know! Matilda Frye (talk) 15:18, 9 July 2020 (UTC)matildafrye[reply]

What I'd like to suggest is that you ask for one thing at a time. Pick the most important, and make a very clear edit request (Change X to Y, per source Z, here's the relevant text from that source) using the {{edit request}} template, which you can find instructions for at Template:Request edit. When that request is dealt with, make another. I am going to go through the article and make note of things that need citations, and also remove some stuff that isn't relevant. For instance, we don't care if she was nominated for a gazillion things, and we really only care that she won things that are notable enough to link to. —valereee (talk) 16:16, 9 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Valereee:
Please for each item start a new section and make a very clear edit request (Change X to Y, per source Z, here's the relevant text from that source) using the {{edit request}} template, which you can find instructions for at Template:Request edit. I assume Tor is her publisher? That's not an unaffiliated source. To indent properly on talk pages, please prepend one more colon than is in front of the post you're replying to. —valereee (talk) 17:42, 9 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Matilda Frye, you just edited the article? —valereee (talk) 17:51, 9 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I wanted to add a citation to one of citation needed ones you added but messed up the link. I feel like Patrick when Spongebob tries to get him to open a jar of pickles. I think I cancelled the change. I'll just add citations here. SMH at myself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Matilda Frye (talkcontribs) 18:14, 9 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
