"In stark contrast, the Lubavitcher Rebbe encouraged all women to wear only sheitels..."

[edit]

Reading the cited link, it says nothing about "only sheitels." He just says that a (full) wig is the minimum required because hats/kerchiefs etc. may leave some hair exposed. There's nothing there to discourage a full sheitel + kerchief etc. חנינא (talk) 17:53, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

regarding the picture

[edit]

it appears the wearer is wearing a snood on top of her hair which is commonly seen. some may argue there is too much hair exposed while some are lenient. a sheitel under a snood is not generally worn and would make things rather (more) uncomfortable.74.44.21.36 (talk) 05:21, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm removing the image here - this is clearly not a wig (Sheitel). Ori Redler (talk) 10:06, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Merge with Tichel

[edit]

Does anyone think this should be merged with Tichel under the topic of Head Coverings for Jewish Woman? That would correspond to the Hebrew article on the subject, כיסוי ראש לנשים.BenPlotke (talk) 01:51, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

At long last, I have done this. (Even before seeing your comment!) Ar2332 (talk) 18:14, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This barbarous medeival custom gives our people a bad name; why no mention of the controversy? Many Jews find this an odious way to treat women
