Measurement units

Is there a good reason why some measurements are listed in feet first while others are in metres first? I added {{convert}} to all the measurements, but they should be consistent in order. Slambo (Speak) 16:04, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Without thoroughly appreciating the International System of Units, there is some historical merit in stating the original unit of measurement followed by a convert. If at the time of construction (or the like) imperial units were used by society it is important to state that first, for example, when the Woy Woy Tunnel was constructed the length was measured and published as 1 mile and 4 chains. I feel it all depends on the date of the event and how it relates to the Metrication in Australia. Maybe you have a somewhat valid point. Factrules (talk) 04:37, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

first bridge failure
