Merger[edit]

I agree, just do it and then take down the silly merger template, it really has been up for ages, and noone (myself included) has actually done a thing about it.Don 19:25, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think there should be a merger, but I do think that we should remove the sections that are not specific to the B3 (The tonewheel system and The drawbars), and the comment "It was originally produced to be a portable alternative to the unportable church organ", because it wasn't particularly the B3 that was. We could then add sections specific to the B3, including examples of musicians that use(d) it and why this particular model was so popular. This page could then be linked from an updated Hammond Organ page, which lists the various models a link to a page for each.

So the section would have a main page and several subpages, e.g.

Hammond Organ
- B3
- C3
- A100
- Spinet models

Any objections? Thoughts?

The template for the merger of this article and the article Hammond organ is still up and there is no consensus on the merger. To that end, therefore, I propose a vote on the merger.

It seems insane to bother combining these--as the B3 stands alone in sonic/tonal quality and feel.

There is a constant and immediate response to the B3 that happens to no other organ. Folks actually recognize it--whereas if you put an old MOOG or a Wurlitzer near their ear and they'd not have a clue.

You are welcome to put a B-3 stub in Hammond, but please leave it in a league and article of its own.

Due to the historical significance of the B3, the fact that it's the best known Hammond, and it's contributions to many styles of music since it's introduction (including jazz, soul, blues, funk and rock) the B3 deserves it's own entry. Dissolve 01:29, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It might be accurately said the B-3 is to Hammond what Corvettes are to Chevrolet. Continuing to have it's own "spot" is, in my opinion, earned and deserved.

Agreed the B3 should have its own entry for any number of reasons.

Question[edit]
