If you need help[edit]

I, and another editor, recently fixed up this page. Unfortunately, there isn't enough material online to add anything more to this article without the help of people who know more about it. If you're a student, teacher, or parent (or otherwise) who knows about this school, help us out! Add some more information to this page - including logos and pictures, especially. If you need help with anything, click on my name below, and then press the "talk" tab, and leave a message.

Banning of The Perks of Being a Wallflower[edit]

This material has been repeatedly removed by Wikiwiki65 (talk · contribs). I reverted initially due to the removal being an unexplained blanking of cited content. In the most recent removal, they provide a statement of "No longer relevant" ... but have not explained why it's no longer relevant. I asked on their user-page, but no response as yet. Here's the text being removed:

On April 29, 2013, the Glen Ellyn School District 41 Board of Education voted 4-2 to ban The Perks of Being a Wallflower from Hadley Junior High School, despite a review committee of teachers and administrators recommending that the book be allowed to stay on school shelves.[1]
The board's decision has been opposed by many Hadley students, who have asked the board to reconsider the ban.[2] The censorship has also angered many Hadley teachers, such as literacy teacher Lynn Bruno,[3] and parents of Hadley students. Alumni of the junior high school have also organized in opposition to the ban.[4]

If no further explanation is provided then I'll be restoring the material. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 15:50, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I did a search and found two news stories saying that the school board has reversed their decision; so I think that's why it's being removed. But, it's still a notable event, given the broad coverage it received as well as acknowledgement that the school board "garnered input from as far away as Australia."[1] Given the coverage, I think a one paragraph mention that the event occured and that it was reversed as a result of a "public outcry for the book's return."[2] would still be appropriate within the article. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 16:01, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
