HBO Asia

[edit]

HBO Asia, "THE BEST OF HOLLYWOOD" .........not. hbo asia is just like any other channel in asia. one of the main factors of the original hbo was that you are paying extra to watch some new stuff, some good stuff. as it is a pay-per-view channel, it is not open to the general public and, therefore, able to show movies with explicit violence, language, and nudity. now i am not a big fan of "nightmare on elmstreet" or "friday the 13th", but hbo or no hbo, all that v, l, and n are edited out when it gets to asia. i don't know why the afore mentioned movies were ever shown in asia since half the film is cut out. what is really disappointing is that there are some good movies that carry artistic meaning in their v/l/n or some of those parts are actually important to the plot. i remember watching one movie where "i believe" the main villian was killed, but that part was cut out and i remember asking, "what just happened?!!" until i got to the end and logically assumed the villan had been, in fact, slain. as for "the best of hollywood", uh, from what year? the best of hollywood from the 1920's? i see newer movies on MGM than hbo. then if there is a descent movie, it's repeated 100 times in a two-week period. these really old movies must be cheap to rent and show on hbo, so why not just show some good old movies instead of repeating the same one again and again and again? and about those old movies, i am already sick of all these "classic", 112 academy-award winning, deep-hearted dramas! i just know "on golden pond" is right around the corner of upcoming movies. maybe hbo should put a little distance from this channel and call it, "asiahbo" or "pretend hbo" or "do you like good movies? 'cause if you like good movies, don't watch this channel". after all, this is asia. asia puts parental guidence warnings on walt disney animations, THEN they cut out the v/l/n after putting up the warning!! why put up the warning if it's edited out? Isn't this just an advertisment? Shouldn't it be deleted? Xihe 00:10, 2 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This does sound a bit like an ad, but there is some relevant information. It just needs a thorough clean-up. I am flagging this. --Fizan 04:52, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

HBO Pakistan

[edit]

Gqegg are you really that dumb or you want to be.... you must be some indian or some bangali who always has some pain in his ass when some thing is related to pakistan. Goto the satellite address [1] on it you can see hbo india and hbo pakistan as separate channels. Infact if you see hbo pakistan it shows the timings in PST(Pakistan Standard Time) and pakistani ads. --Mm11 10:27, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: HBO Pakistan

[edit]

Please validate your claim with an hbo website, which proves the existence of hbo pakistan, the hbo south asia clearly states that viewers in pakistan get the same hbo as the rest of south asia.

Please have a look at http://www.hbo.com/corpinfo/international.shtml and at http://www.hbosouthasia.com notice that when you first visit the website it allows too choose from four territories, i.e Bangladesh India Maldives and Pakistan. Gqegg 21:03, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No viewers in pakistan dont watch the same hbo as the rest of south asia. HBO Pakistan is a separate feed on satellite Intelsat 10. Do you get PST timings on the hbo you see in india or bangladesh?. HBO sold its regional rights for Pakistan to ARY Digital. HBO Pakistan has an office in karachi. Operated by ARY Digital with pakistani ads and pk timings. --Mm11 10:52, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Re: HBO PK

[edit]

If thats the case then I cannot comprehend why does hbosouthasia.com shows that the schedule in Bangladesh, India, Maldives and Pakistan is same. Would you be kind enough to provide a zap/screenshot? So that this issue can be settled for once and for all. Gqegg 18:23, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

HBO Pacific Partners VOF

[edit]

According to this link...

http://www.spacenewsfeed.co.uk/2004/20June2004_5.html

...HBO Asia is connected to the holding company "HBO Pacific Partners VOF." I've been unable to find documentation on the sepcifics on that relationship. Is it somehow considered a subsidiary of HBO? Does anyone know any info that can be added?

(Here is the text from the link to which I'm referring.)

"Singapore-based HBO Asia brings the best of Hollywood to Asia through its exclusive first-run licensing deals with major Hollywood studios including Columbia Tri/Star, DreamWorks, Paramount Pictures, Universal Studios and Warner Bros. In addition to proprietary and award-winning HBO Original programming produced exclusively for its viewers, HBO Asia works with a number of prominent independent studios to secure exclusive rights to a host of quality movies. HBO Pacific Partners, VOF is a joint venture of media giants Paramount Films, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Time Warner and Universal Studios."

HBO Pacific Partners is also stated as the holding company primarily involved in a current (July, 2008) Spider-Man 3 contest for viewers in India.

http://hbo.magnonsolutions.co.in/spiderman3/terms-conditions.html#term

My interest is in expanding the available data on that holding company that can be inserted to all relevant entries. (Time-Warner, HBO Asia, Paramount Films, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Universal Studios, etc.)

Thank you.

HBO (Asia)HBO Asia – This article is really an incoherent mess. I'm not sure if the article is about the company "HBO Asia", or the channel "HBO" which shows in Asian territories, or the other Asian channel "HBO South Asia", or about something else. However, if all these are in the same article, then the article should probably be named after the company, which according to [4] says it's called "HBO Asia". Adding original programming page

[edit]

Right now, HBO Asia has already produce and distribute many Asian originals which include Golden Bell Awards biggest winner The World Between Us (co-produced with Taiwan Public Television Service & CatchPlay), Folklore which in fact that HBO Asia confirmed the second season was on production, alongside with their recently released film The Garden of Evening Mists & also already aired Adventure of the Ring, which already secured both Golden Horse Awards and Golden Bell Awards nomination. Would suggested to have their original programming page included on HBO Asia page, similar to HBO original programming. - VernardoLau (talk) 10:25, 13 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
