William Hill

[edit]

The candidate stated to have treated local voters to drinks in 1796 later became known as William Noel-Hill who succeeded his brother as 3rd Baron Berwick of Attingham in 1832. The concluding sentence, Bankruptcy later forced Hill into hanging himself is historically incorrect in that despite financial difficulties which affected his family, he became MP for Shrewsbury at that election and sat until 1812, and he did not commit suicide when he died in 1842. The information about Hill given in the linked pub website is erroneous. Cloptonson (talk) 10:38, 4 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have emailed the Golden Cross Hotel to point out this erroneous information in their website.Cloptonson (talk) 18:52, 4 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
