The "Georgia" move discussions in a nutshell:

"Alphabetical order by author name"
[edit]Two points: 1) those aren't the names of the songwriters (not "authors") and 2) that wouldn't be the correct alphabetization anyways. "Cee Lo Green" would be alphabetized under "Green, Cee Lo". "Elton John" would be alphabetized under "John, Elton". And so on. "Field Mob" would, however, be alphabetized under "Field Mob". --Khajidha (talk) 14:40, 19 September 2017 (UTC)

Requested move 17 January 2022
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: Procedural close, initiator is a blocked sockpuppet. Other editors may craft a new proposal, keeping in mind the many times this has been previously discussed. CMD (talk) 18:15, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
Georgia → Georgia (disambiguation) – as reason stated here. उत्कर्ष555 (talk) 16:44, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
- So that we don't have two concurrent discussions, I'd request that this be closed and the other move linked in the nomination updated to include this one.--Yaksar (let's chat) 17:30, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
- The discussions should indeed be merged, but as seen in this talk page's header, "Discussions regarding the titles of the articles Georgia, Georgia (country) and Georgia (U.S. state) should be held at Talk:Georgia." 162 etc. (talk) 17:45, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
- I have nothing against that, the other just already had a !vote when I made this comment.--Yaksar (let's chat) 17:59, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
Requested move 24 April 2022
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: Speedy Close as a perennial discussion with no new arguments presented in nomination. Recommended permanent or long-term term moratorium against further nominations, as neither subject is liable to change its name in the forseeable future. (non-admin closure) BilCat (talk) 19:24, 24 April 2022 (UTC)
Addendum: This discussion was proposed by an alternate account of the user who proposed the previous move. BilCat (talk) 23:42, 24 April 2022 (UTC)
Georgia → Georgia (disambiguation) – A more narrowed down and straight to the point for the disambiguation. eg, India (disambiguation). Anyways, the main title should be always retained for high priority and often used articles. Eg, this title should be crowned for the country, which is sandwiched between Asia and Europe. Utkarsh555 10:46, 24 April 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose. Per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, "If no primary topic exists, then the term should be the title of a disambiguation page (or should redirect to a disambiguation page on which more than one term is disambiguated)." I disagree that it's obvious that either the country or the US state is the primary topic, and I'm not a fan of frequent relitigation: this was just discussed in the past year. Largoplazo (talk) 12:32, 24 April 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose per everything Largoplazo said. --User:Khajidha (talk) (contributions) 13:04, 24 April 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose. There is no primary topic here. The status quo should remain. Rreagan007 (talk) 16:21, 24 April 2022 (UTC)
- Weak oppose per my comment in the other RM that was recently closed. Crouch, Swale (talk) 16:25, 24 April 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose This has been discussed at length before, and there is no reason to do it again here. 162 etc. (talk) 16:27, 24 April 2022 (UTC)
