Worst Snows

[edit]

I think the 1993 snowstorm is more hype than reality. There were heavier snows in 1940 and 1983, the article says. 1982, 1981, 1977, quite a few Atlanta snowstorms were memorable.

Also, the 1993 snow in March was "wet" snow that quickly melted. The 1982 snowstorm was accompanied by temps as low as -5F and lingered for weeks (similar to December 2010). Snow from the December 2010 event lingered for more than 14 days at places like Atlantic Station (sunlight blocked by tall buildings/interstate).Ryoung122 21:30, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Recentist Bias

[edit]

1954 was the driest year in Atlanta history, and saw temps such as 95F in October (the all-time October record) and 102 in August.

Yet instead we get "newscast" updates that pertain only to the (young people's) living memory.

Note: this is supposed to be an encyclopedia. Please do some research and use cited facts for this article. Try the NWS-Atlanta web pages for a start.Ryoung122 21:35, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Altitude error?

[edit]

The article claims that Atlanta is the highest city east of the mississippi. However, the cited list of altitudes shows that Pittsburgh is higher. Also, the list shows airport altitudes, not city altitudes.I have not been able a better list, but this website may be helpful [1]. It does appear that Atlanta is slightly higher than Pittsburgh. 2602:306:8B2C:8260:0:0:0:41 (talk) 16:15, 12 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
