Move?
[edit]- Geography and climate of Abkhazia → Geography of Abkhazia — The current title is redundant; climate is an aspect of geography. Neelix (talk) 01:32, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
- Geography influences climate, but climate is not the same thing as geography. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 07:33, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
- I think normally there is seperate articles for these, so if you want to split it, that's fine with me, otherwise I don't really see the need to rename. sephia karta | di mi 09:23, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
- For nearly every country in the world, there is a geography article with the title format "Geography of x" with a subsection called "Climate" (ex. Geography of Afghanistan#Climate, Geography_of_Angola#Climate, Geography of Guyana#Climate). The climatology article itself states that the study is a subfield of physical geography. Anthony Appleyard states, "climate is not the same thing as geography", and this is true, but all aspects of climate are studied in geography. Climate studies are inherently geographical; any article about the geography of an area would be incomplete without a discussion of climate. The current title of "Geography and climate of Abkhazia" is necessarily redundant. Neelix (talk) 13:15, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
- ...and a separate article is created for the climate of a country if warranted, ok. In that case I agree that moving the page is consistent with standard practice, you can go ahead as far as I am concerned. sephia karta | di mi 16:48, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
"Geography of Foo" is the standard. As there is agreement, I have done the move. SilkTork *YES! 18:57, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
Requested move 28 July 2023
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: Procedural close. These requests would have to be combined to be open simultaneously. I will combine them into one request, assuming the original nominator wants to propose both at once. (closed by non-admin page mover) SilverLocust 💬 08:41, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
