of course 'gamucha' is not a religious clothing. It is a poor man's towel in Bengal, Bihar and Odisha. If the priests ever use it in the temple, it is because of their poverty, or poverty of the donors. Now a days all priets wear a decent dhoti and a decent upper cloth, sometimes they wear silk/semi-silk bright-coloured dhoti and upper cloth.

You may kindly remove the topic 'gamucha' entirely, and definitely as a form of religious garment. It is not true, and does not speak very weel of the practice. I am a practicing Hindu.

The "Gamucha" is also found in Assam and it is a cultural symbol of the Assamese people. I think the name should be "Gamocha" not "Gamucha" Jpnath008 (talk) 12:46, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Why not same as "gamosa"?[edit]

These two articles are "not to be confused with" each other, but why? It appears to be essentially the same word, and both articles say it is used as a towel, as a loincloth, etc. Equinox 01:08, 22 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

These are not same word. One is "gam-sa" and other is "ga-mu-sa". দিব্য দত্ত (talk) 06:21, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

dismaal - a typo?[edit]

dismaal seems to be a typo but it is not obvious what it should be - can anyone figure out what it should be? (from Wikipedia:Correct typos in one click)
