Confusion over name

[edit]

There seems to be a dispute about whether the inventor of the urethane/polyurethane wheel for skateboards is named Frank Gainsworthy or Frank Nasworthy (or some other variant). It is also possible, but not probable, that there were two east coast surfers named Frank something-worthy who each invented some form of wheel for skateboards in 1972. Someone with the appropriate resources ought to take it upon themselves to solve the mystery.

Re-Write

[edit]

I'd like to re-write this page to make it more accurate and coherent.

Is there any evidence that Frank was "Suspended from his engineering studies"?

If no source can be found, I will delete this reference next week. Steve-g 16:51, 27 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re-Write

[edit]

I've re-written this whole page.

I read somewhere that Frank later moved back to Florida and opened a skatepark - can anyone elaborate on that? And the story of Richard Novak buying up all Creative Urethane's stock for the Road Rider, effectively halting Cadillac production - is that true? Steve-g 09:30, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nice re-write! I went ahead and wikified and formatted it for you. --Liface 15:09, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Living people

[edit]

Anyone know if he's still alive? --Liface 15:31, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

He was working for Hewlett-Packard as an engineer in 2004. I guess he's still alive as I think his death would be reported in the mags or on forums
