Leforts In Singapore

[edit]

The Leforts in Singapore are either descendants of Arthur Lefort and his brother Louis Lefort both of whom are deceased.Unlike Leforts in other parts of the globe which tend to be Caucasian, the Leforts in Singapore are Indians ( Dravidians) . The history of the Lefort family in Singapore can be traced to Pondicherry which is a French colony in India. It is not clear how Arthur and Louis obtained the surname Lefort as their father did not have the Lefort surname. He was named A S Nathan. However, the Leforts in Singapore are thriving well with four grandsons from the lineage of Louis Lefort ( Jason Joseph Lefort,Christopher Lefort, David Lefort and Jonathan Lefort ) . There are two grandsons from the lineage of Arthur Lefort ( Joshua and Jonathan Galileo Lefort ) .The genealogy and family tree of the Leforts in Singapore can be viewed here : [1] —Preceding unsigned comment added by Joseph Lefort (talkcontribs) 08:10, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why use a German name for a French-speaking person who lived in Russia ?

[edit]

I am sure there is a explanation. FTR, the German page uses the French name... --Japarthur (talk) 12:04, 10 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This is maybe the name he chose for himself. But I rather doubt it: even his German page in the Historical Dictionary of Switzerland gives François Le Fort. By the way: it is Le Fort, not Lefort. This also should be corrected. Sapphorain (talk) 13:29, 10 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
... I gave a correct title to the page; unfortunately there is already a page for some other (hypothetical) François Le Fort, which contains zero source. So I had to add the precision (admiral). Sapphorain (talk) 19:57, 13 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
