Merge discussion[edit]

I propose to merge the following articles into "Florida Gators football, 1910–1919":

1. "1910 Florida Gators football team‎";

2. "1911 Florida Gators football team‎";

3. "1912 Florida Gators football team‎";

4. "1913 Florida Gators football team‎";

5. "1914 Florida Gators football team‎";

6. "1915 Florida Gators football team‎";

7. "1916 Florida Gators football team‎"; and

8. "1917 Florida Gators football team‎."

My reasons for this proposed merger are straight-forward: (a) these are orphan articles; (b) they provide no information that is different than the article into which I propose to merge them; and (c) they do not fit the established pattern of Florida Gators football season lists by decades, from 1910 through 1999 (e.g., "Florida Gators football, 1950–1959"). If anyone objects or has a better idea, please discuss. If no one objects by April 26, 2010, I will implement the proposed article merger. Thanks. Sam Buie[edit]

A possible interesting note. Sam Buie was the captain of the 1912 Gators. A fellow by the same name, spelling, etc, was Duke's quarterback in 1928. Cake (talk) 14:51, 19 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

1910 Columbia?[edit]

McEwen seems pretty certain this was played in Lake City, against the college, and not versus some athletic club in Gainesville. Cake (talk) 05:37, 27 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I already did the newspaper angle and am yet to find any mention, and I trust it was copied properly. The best I've got to corroborate the rather vivid tale of McEwen is the yearbook saying merely Columbia as it lists the scores. Cake (talk) 07:35, 27 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hm, curiously he also says, of 1905, "Despite the season and despite the Buckman Act and its consequences, the Athletic Association met late in 1905 and prepared for its first season as Columbia Athletic Club, of Columbia College" Cake (talk) 11:58, 27 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
