The context

[edit]

I'm sure many people have thought about a telescope that processes light electronically rather than using mirrors or lenses. Max Tegmark has now written about it, but this article should have references to earlier writings if they can be found.Delaszk (talk) 16:11, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And it's misleadingly not primarily about optical telescope, but rather radio telescope. More context would certainly help. Dicklyon (talk) 21:31, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The lead

[edit]

I'd like to see this article start with something like this:

A Fast Fourier Transform Telescope is.......

etc. But I can't edit it into that form because the article leaves me unsure just what a Fast Fourier Transform Telescope is.

A Wikipedia article should not be a leisurely discussion leading to an eventual statement of what the thing is that's being written about, while the reader is unsure when that statement will come. Michael Hardy (talk) 19:40, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I took a stab at it. I think it's one guy's name for a not-so-novel concept, and probably not notable. There are quite a few articles that his work could be mentioned in, instead of having this new one. Dicklyon (talk) 21:31, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
