Terrye Teverson

[edit]

I have removed the link to Baron Teverson, as it is not relevant to the article that Terrye Jones/Teverson is his wife, especially as they were not married when she stood in F&C. There are plenty of other candidates who are married to well known people and we do not link their names to those of their spouses. Incidentally, I have begun a discussion at WT:WPUKPOL over use of full names. Frinton100 (talk) 13:24, 30 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The removed link was Robin Teverson, Baron Teverson#Terrye Jones|Terrye Lynn Jones, Terrye Lynn Jones led the reader directly to the Terrye Jones section of the Baron Teverson article that gave biographical information about the candidate which is helpful to the reader. The marital status at the time of the election of a candidate should not be a material consideration when providing the reader with a link to that candidate's biography. But my point is, that is not the candidate's biog, it is the biog of her future (at the time of the election) spouse. Frinton100 (talk) 13:57, 30 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
My point is that it is the candidate's biog. The fact that it is contained within another article is not going to be of interested to anyone wanting to find out more about the candidate. Graemp (talk) 14:02, 30 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It clearly isn't the candidate's biog if it is not her article. If she is notable enough to have her own article, then she should have one, if not then she doesn't have a biog on wikipedia. I don't know enough about her to know how notable she is in other areas of life, but if her only claim to fame is being a three-time defeated LibDem candidate then that is clearly not enough. All her section of the Baron Teverson article made clear was that she was a candidate and she was married to him. Frinton100 (talk) 14:08, 30 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Boundaries

[edit]

Our article says of the boundaries "1950-1983: The Municipal Boroughs of Falmouth and Penryn, the Urban District of Camborne-Redruth, and parts of the Rural Districts of Kerrier, Truro, and West Penwith." The municipal boroughs, rural districts, and urban districts, referred to all ceased to exist in 1974. It seems anachronistic to use them to describe the boundaries after this date. DuncanHill (talk) 16:41, 2 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@DuncanHill: There was no boundary review between 1970 (effective February 1974), at which point the full effects of the Local Government Act 1972 were still a month in the future, and 1983, so the constituencies contested at the elections of October 1974 and May 1979 were described in pre-April 1974 terms. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 23:40, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
