Eva Marshal, → Eva Marshal — This is an obvious typo. Robert Greer (talk) 21:18, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

Lady Abergavenny?
[edit]This style sounds too modern to me, and the new footnote 4 "As the wife of Lord Abergavenny, she would be automatically styled Lady Abergavenny" doesn't do much justify it. Her husband wasn't Lord Abergavenny, so far as I can see, though I agree he was lord of Abergavenny and some other places. I can't find the style "Lord Abergavenny" or "Lady Abergavenny" in the source cited. In 1232, according to that source, she was styled "Eve de Braose". Andrew Dalby 16:49, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
- I'll do a thorough search tomorrow for a ref.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 18:12, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
- There is a lot of confusion about these titles. Eva's husband was lord of Abergavenny. That is a statement of possession of a tenancy. It is not a title. There was no title Lord Abergavenny until the barony was created in 1392. Even then it is unlikely that it was used in that form. See the wiki page Baron Bergavenny ---- Doug (talk) 18:51, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
- So we should remove the title from the page. I'll do it now, leaving the statement that her husband was lord of Abergavenny as in tenancy. Thanks for your help, Doug.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 08:22, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
