My name is Ed Balzer. I've manufactured racons for 25 years and am now retired. The article "enhanced racon" is very out of date and misleading. The term enhanced is a term used by sales to increase interest. All modern racons have generally the same features of X Band, S Band, frequency agility and a unique Morse code character. The primary differences are reliability, frequency accuracy and power efficiency. New features are being tried currently that involve an AIS in some form. This is my first comment on anything. I hope it is useful. Edbalzer (talk) 23:48, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm no expert, however I've merged the material in question over to Radar beacon (racon), where it has more of a chance of being seen and changed. Also, I've tagged it as 'out of date', so hopefully someone with more expertise than me can update it appropriately. Klbrain (talk) 11:49, 18 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
