Spider-Man: No Way Home
[edit]Starting this discussion since this has been added and removed multiple times. Does Olsen's appearance in the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer that plays at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home make the latter suitable for inclusion on the "film" table? KyleJoantalk 04:01, 5 February 2022 (UTC)
- It absolutely should be included. It was less of a trailer and more of a collection of scenes. It was far longer than a typical trailer and not structured like one either. I think it definitely counts as an appearance. Rcarter555 (talk) 07:36, 5 February 2022 (UTC)
- Disagree.
It was less of a trailer and more of a collection of scenes.
Isn't that what a trailer is supposed to be? It's runtime was about two minutes, basically about the same length of every other movie trailer in existence. It is most definitely a trailer. It's not a post-credit scene, therefore, I don't believe her appearance is suitable for inclusion here. — Film Enthusiast✉ 20:05, 5 February 2022 (UTC)- It’s a trailer, Marvel YouTube channel along with various outlets and even the Dr Strange article calls it a trailer. It’s just a trailer. Hydro-Molecular Dude (talk) 05:00, 6 February 2022 (UTC)
- Disagree.
Lede-worthy MCU projects
[edit]Which standard should be observed when including these in the lead section and why? While the parentheses list existing projects, the suggested options would also apply to future roles.
- A First appearance and Scarlet Witch-centric projects (Captain America: The Winter Soldier and WandaVision)
- B Starring roles (Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, WandaVision)
- C Credited appearances (Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, WandaVision)
- D All appearances (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, WandaVision, Spider-Man: No Way Home)

- Is there a specific issue you have with the current format? CreecregofLife (talk) 02:12, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
- No, I believe the current format is the most appropriate way to document this material, but I've written to some of the pinged users, and they seem to have different views about it. The different options address those. KyleJoantalk 02:19, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
- No Way Home should not be included. I don't recall her anywhere outside the Multiverse of Madness trailer which isn't part of the movie CreecregofLife (talk) 02:27, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
- Her first appearance in the mid-credits or post-credits scene (sources differ) of The Winter Soldier was not part of that film either. That's why the current format, or B, is appropriate. It is a clear-cut principle that does not require us to go into role size, screen time, and placement of scenes. KyleJoantalk 02:33, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
- Those are two entirely different cases. The Multiverse of Madness trailer is not a post-credits scene. The stinger in which she appears in Winter Soldier is part of the film CreecregofLife (talk) 02:39, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
- That's one interpretation. Sources differ on that too. Some describe the footage as a trailer and not a scene; others say it is a scene and a trailer. Anyway, are you recommending the inclusion of all past projects (other than No Way Home)? KyleJoantalk 02:57, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
- "Sources differ on that too"? What are your sources? CreecregofLife (talk) 03:44, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
- The Washington Post ("The second post-credits scene is less spider-villains, more sorcery."), The Independent (No Way Home's post-credits scene, meanwhile, gave fans a look..."), Collider ("Spider-Man: No Way Home is no different, but the film's two credits scenes are a bit unique..."), etc. Are you going to answer the question? If not, please open a separate discussion for this. KyleJoantalk 04:06, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
- Wikipedia doesn't consider it a post-credits scene, nor should we. It's not actually part of the movie. Also WP:NORUSH CreecregofLife (talk) 05:18, 9 May 2022 (UTC)

- A or C per the discussion on my talk page (though I consider Age of Ultron her first film, not TWS). To put it succinctly, I don't like the idea of splitting hairs over whether she "starred" in Endgame or not, which was the start of this issue. -- Vaulter 03:53, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
- I would go with B, because notable starring roles is what the lead is about. Krimuk2.0 (talk) 07:10, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
- C as those are important roles for her character, not just the films she "starred" in. LADY LOTUS • TALK 12:05, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
- I would I would say C as she had a fairly prominent role in all of the listed films. Danny White (talk) 14:55, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
- C Summoned by a bot. Per Danny White above. Comatmebro (talk) 21:48, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
- B - I understand the desire to include all credited roles (C), but I feel like that is too long of a list for the lead, while only character centric films (A) is too short to show the extent of her work. "Starring roles" (B) provides a happy medium, showing a nice longish list that demonstrates her prominence without being so inclusive as to cause a reader's eye to glaze over. Hey, KyleJoan, the discussion was back in July 2022 when she had prominent appearances in each of her MCU projects. Her voice role in the second season of What If...? is neither prominent nor an "appearance", meaning this previous consensus does not extend to this particular role. Krimuk2.0 (talk) 09:41, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Krimuk2.0: Olsen's part isn't less prominent or recognizable in What If...? than it is in Endgame. She was credited in both in an identical capacity (i.e., playing Scarlet Witch). If prominence only has to do with a project's scale, how do we verify that one Marvel project is less prominent than another when they're all canon? KyleJoantalk 09:57, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
- ... by its impact and reception. Same way in which we give weight to the rest of her non-MCU credits in the lead by not mentioning each and every role for which she has been credited. Krimuk2.0 (talk) 10:06, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
- The existing consensus concluded that we should list credited appearances (and yes, she did appear on What If...? in a credited voice role, twice), rendering impact and reception irrelevant. Imagine a discussion that contends Endgame had the most bombastic impact, Infinity War was best received, and Multiverse of Madness received the worst reviews. It would be endless. KyleJoantalk 10:20, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
- Aside from all these very valid points on both our parts, what's going happen with us excluding What If...? now is various IP and registered users are going to include then exclude it over and over, leading to a discussion on whether that specific project warrants inclusion and resulting in a consensus that only matters until her next MCU credit comes around. Maintaining this consensus saves everyone's time. KyleJoantalk 10:28, 3 January 2024 (UTC)

Avengers: Endgame
[edit]Ok. So we're just declining her role in it, right? Marvelouseditor6651 (talk) 18:47, 9 May 2022 (UTC)

Merger discussion
[edit]Request received to merge articles: List of awards and nominations received by Elizabeth Olsen into Elizabeth Olsen; dated: September 2022.
Proposer's rationale: WP:TOOBIG is clearly not met. The August 2022 split was not summarized in a reason that justified it. Please discuss here. Thank you. KyleJoantalk 19:03, 28 September 2022 (UTC)
- Agreed, not big enough for a split, and the new article has issues like wikilinks in headings and many small tables that can be merged for easier reading and sorting. Indagate (talk) 06:51, 4 October 2022 (UTC)
- The headings can be fixed. There are other pages like Tessa Thompson and Taron Egerton whose awards pages were split, despite not containing a long list. Please advise. Wheezythewave (talk) 14:19, 4 October 2022 (UTC)
- WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. They should be merged back to their original article as well per the guideline cited above, WP:TOOBIG. Please also see, WP:PROPERSPLIT, attribution is required if split remains. Thanks, Indagate (talk) 14:27, 4 October 2022 (UTC)

- Weak support re-merge. At first glance, it does seem to the untrained eye that the article actually is big until you see that there are numerous one-off awards and that they're sectionalized to make what should be a section look like an article. The problem is not extremely big, but if it can be addressed now by re-merging, it should. InvadingInvader (userpage, talk) 22:55, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
Date of birth
[edit]Her date of birth here is incorrect and differs from the one of her twin sister. They were both born on the June 13th 1986. Otherwise they wouldn't be able to have played in Full House that started in 1987. 2001:1C00:1026:BB01:A135:9E28:E30B:8F28 (talk) 06:48, 17 May 2023 (UTC)

Starting acting
[edit]It says she started acting in 1994. That's false since she started acting at 4 according to this source. https://www.nme.com/en_asia/news/film/elizabeth-olsen-very-scary-being-followed-paparazzi-child-2857255 Connor Marini (talk) 21:44, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
