"Eid" in arabic doesn't mean "festival", "festivity". It means something in the line with: "something that reappears, re-occurs"

Merger proposal[edit]

I propose to merge Hari Raya into this disambg. page. Eid festival also discusses other names for the Eid days. Perhaps Eid festival should not discuss these details, but the articles Eid ul-Fitr and Eid al-Adha should contain these details. MP (talk) 18:17, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This page should not be merged with the Eid page as Hari Raya has broader uses. The term Hari Raya is not just used in Malaysia, it is also used in Indonesia. In Indonesia, the term applies to various festivals from a number of religions of which Hari Raya Idul Fitri is one.
