His middle name is not listed in New International Encyclopedia, so he probably did not have a middle name. The List of President of the American Association for the Advancement of Science calls him "Edward Francis Orton," which is probably an error. I am creating the page Edward Orton because I have no information on his middle name. At some point in the future someone must determine his true name. I am submitting information from the New International Encyclopedia, so make of it what you will. His son is listed as Edward Orton, Jr, with no middle name.
