Discussion[edit]

Not sure age is relevant for biographical information, or for historical opinion.Slatersteven (talk) 13:35, 13 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Going by Morgan's Bibliographic Note to begin with This is disappointing; it is written in a flowery style and fails to cite evidence for many of its assertions. feel free to change the notes. fiveby(zero) 14:00, 13 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I thought this part was about disusing them?Slatersteven (talk) 14:11, 13 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
heh, That's the first book on this list we got, Morgan as criticised Thomas Garrads book. Govvy (talk) 14:23, 13 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

As to local history societies and their books, if one local history society is not reliable none are.Slatersteven (talk) 14:11, 13 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Don't see why this wouldn't be a useful source, the author looks qualified with related works. Here's some background for editors and peer review. fiveby(zero) 14:23, 13 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Then he might pass as expert opinion.Slatersteven (talk) 14:25, 13 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
He's a qualified academic publishing with peer review. Cited by Dresser, but i don't know in what context. Don't see any reason not consider reliable. I think if there were a conflict we should prefer journal publication, but otherwise completely usable. fiveby(zero) 14:44, 13 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I think per WP:NEWSORG Scholarly sources and high-quality non-scholarly sources are generally better than news reports for academic topics we should be careful to use certain sources only in the "Modern reappraisal" or "City-centre memorial statue" sections. fiveby(zero) 17:18, 13 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I think the top should be the list of refs, without comments or 'notes', and down here should be the discusions on each of them - a section for each. -- DeFacto (talk). 17:04, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
