District[edit]

According to this East Stourmouth is in Dover not Canterbury. Can anyone local confirm which is correct? Regan123 19:17, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like the postal address is Canterbury Yell.com but the Census shows the district as Dover. Should this article be about Stourmouth the parish, rather than part of it? Olive Oil 12:58, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Why don't we have a parish article and then a settlement article. If they fall in different/multiple districts it would make it more difficult to keep them together I would have thought. Regan123 16:50, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Just in general, it's not a great idea to go below parish level unless the article is really bursting at the seams - it all gets a bit arbitrary defining what a "settlement" is, as in this case where West Stourmouth is just a couple of scattered farms, plus the church. Whereas East Stourmouth (generally known simply as "Stourmouth") is a proper little village - except it doesn't have a church. Aside from the uncertainty as to whether or not to use "East", I think it makes more sense to treat the whole unit, church and population centre, as one unit. Potentially you could split off the church as a separate article in the long run, but for now I've been WP:BOLD and merged East Stourmouth into Stourmouth. It also solves the district issue, there's no question that Stourmouth the parish is in Dover district. Le Deluge (talk) 23:21, 4 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
