First attempt at rescuing the article

[edit]

This article needs obviously a lot of work. I'm doing some cleanup, and I move here this comment that was concluded the biography, as I thinks it belongs to this discussion page rather than the article page (of course the question is relevant, but the wikipedia article is not a good place for speculation):

    • It is not known whether Douglas davis is still alive as of July 2009. All activity (artistic and media) has stopped since early 2006)**

Anyone know if this artist, Douglas Davis, was the same Douglas Davis that in 1960 lived in France and was the artist for Edith Piaf's record covers and likely her lover during that period? See photo https://www.ebay.fr/itm/295784064330
That Douglas Davis was friend of fellow artist Charles Shuts, both living in France at that time. Lawrence of Muncie (talk) 08:43, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Hello, I have made available online an essay about Douglas Davis from my book Video Visions, published by New American Library in 1977. The material appears on Blogger, but it is an excerpt from a published work that was reviewed in Videography, November, 1977; New York Times by Jeff Greenfield, December 18, 1977; Performing Arts Journal, Vol. 3, No. 1 (Spring - Summer, 1978), by John Howell; Leonardo, Vol. 13, No. 3 (Summer, 1980), by W.H.M Kaiser. So, even though it appears on my blog, and was therefore challenged by the bot, this material was published by a reputable publisher, and given good reviews way back then. I believe it contains material that will interest anyone who wants to learn about Douglas Davis' early video work. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PackagingMyself (talkcontribs) 22:47, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
