Driver vs mudlib

[edit]

I was under the impression that the mudlib and FluffOS were two separate things, one running on the other. Is this wrong? --Earin (talk) 19:54, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not at all, IIRC, FluffOS is the driver and the mudlib runs on it. (for it has been a while) Vashti (talk) 23:32, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
(IMO) The FluffOS section here makes it look a little like FluffOS is a component of the mudlib. --Earin (talk) 13:44, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the thing is that there isn't really enough to say about FluffOS to give it its own page. It certainly is better folded in here, IMO - most people who know about such things know of the DW mudlib; FluffOS is a much later development. I think the page is clear that the mudlib runs on FluffOS, isn't it? Vashti (talk) 19:02, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Since this guideline-in-progress is being brought to bear on mudlibs, I gave this page a bit of a polish. I've got to say that med experiment surprised the hell out of me. Vashti 23:23, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PF-style coding

[edit]

Also, while I'd like to retain some kind of nod to Pinkfish as the primary creator of the mudlib, I've never heard the term and the only Google hit is, um, here. Is it something from muddev-l or somewhere else, or should we remove this? Vashti 23:40, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Scratch that, a quick Google of rec.arts.mud shows a handful of references to "pinkfish colour", "pinkfish colour protocol" and so on. Vashti 23:43, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Changed the wording to "pinkfish colour", this being what people actually say, and which brings up a relevant non-WP document as the #1 Google hit. —chaos5023 (talk) 04:02, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Divided Sky

[edit]

Divided Sky itself might not be a notable MUD, but Skylib seems to be quite a popular lib for new MUDs (check out the Intermud mudlist). Anyway, good to know someone else cares about this article. :) PeepP 22:28, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

:) But mudlibs need to be very prominent as well before they're notable; being used by a lot of MUDs isn't enough, which is why this one has a bunch of book and historical references and a research reference to defend it against the WP:AFD mob. Is Skylib that notable? Vashti 05:43, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Discworld MUD - Fold

[edit]

Should this page perhaps be folded into Discworld MUD? --Earin 14:40, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
