Double warning

[edit]

Can anybody figure out why the "biography of a living person" warning shows up twice here? Unfree (talk) 01:43, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Daljit as TPol

[edit]

I found this silly image on a German website. It is covered under parody.

Supercool Dude 18:06, 17 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"TPol" is meaningless to me. Unfree (talk) 01:45, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Does she go by "Sullivan" now?

[edit]

I notice her name in the article has changed to Daljit Sullivan, is that what she calls herself now? Also I notice her inclusion in [[Category:Jat people]] has disappeared, what does that mean? Sign me "Curious Fan". --CliffC 20:44, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Singh

[edit]

I am not certain, but I was told all men from her ancestral area of Punjab, India, all have the last name of "Singh". I do not know if that includes women.

Supercool Dude 21:01, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think we can safely dismiss that idea. Unfree (talk) 01:53, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tribes and family names

[edit]

I do not understand what relevance her being to the Jat Family or tribe or whatever they call themselves. No offense meant. What difference does it make?

69.121.68.125 03:15, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There's no suggestion of a "difference" from anything, just the implication that it's something worth mentioning. Personally, I find it interesting, considering how large the Jat clan is, and the fact that it's something I didn't know about before. With the predictable, inevitable advance of genetic studies, I'm sure such curiosities will become far more common as time goes by. We humans are all cousins somehow, but having a handle on who our closer cousins are is an intriguing bit of information, at least. I know, for example, that I'm related to the Marshall clan of Scotland, which is a branch of the Keith clan. To me, it's just a bit of trivia that hasn't turned out useful yet, but someday it may help me remember somebody's name. It may suggest a susceptibility to a hereditary disease someday, give me a way of greeting a distant cousin, or even help me decide what sort of plaid to wear. Thank goodness, the formal Keith dress tartan is very pretty. Some people just love genealogy. Unfree (talk) 02:13, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Confession

[edit]

I was bored in Summer 2005 and I missed Daljit, so I wrote BBC World News and asked the personnel department to please hire her, as she was not working and out of a job. It was pleasing to see her, where she belonged, on BBC World! Back by popular demand! It didn't last, she left for Wide Angle (TV series). LOL!

Supercool Dude 04:14, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to nominate you, Supercool, for a listing in the International Biographical Dictionary, Unabridged Edition. You have done the world a remarkable service. We all owe you a debt of gratitude. Unfree (talk) 02:21, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject class rating

[edit]

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as start, and the rating on other projects was brought up to start class. BetacommandBot 17:44, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It was very astute of you, BetacommandBot, to notice that. Unfree (talk) 02:22, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You may notice, at the bottom of this talk page, that the article belongs to the Unassessed category. Perhaps the announcement of its assessment was premature. Unfree (talk) 02:30, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Global Watch

[edit]

She anchors a new PBS, Global Watch, which just premiered. MMetro (talk) 19:48, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your comment is dated. Unfree (talk) 02:24, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You didn't mention "World Focus". Unfree (talk) 02:26, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Diction, elocution

[edit]

I don't know where confirmation can be found, but I can personally attest that Dhaliwal's diction and elocution are quite good. I think I have more trouble than most people understanding what others say (and aural communication in general, especially song lyrics, which I usually can't follow at all), but I can always hear her quite clearly, even though her accent is quite different from mine.
