DACs -- Digital analog converters, are not known by any other terms commonly other than DAC or ADC.
Mon Calamari on the other hand, are almost exclusively refered to by that name except by hardcore Star Wars geeks.
Ask yourself: Of the users who type 'dac' into the search field, how many are thinking of the uncommon name of a fictional planet in Star Wars, and how many are looking for a common electronic component?
Ideally someone should make a disambiguation page, but until then I'm reverting to the more common usage of DAC.
