DBS receiver with digital VHS recorder
[edit]I've heard there was a DBS satellite TV receiver with a built in digital recorder that used VHS tape but a proprietary format incompatible with D-VHS and D-Theater.
- There is a Dish satellite receiver with built-in D-VHS recorder. It records a straight 720x480 image direct from the feed (STD speed). It's the old-style Data-VHS rather than the upgraded Digital-VHS with high definition capability, and it does not support HS, LS3, or other speeds. ---- Theaveng (talk) 17:45, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
Recording encrypted video
[edit]With the release of component HD recorders (i.e. Hauppage HD-PVR), can we really say that D=VHS is the best way to archive encrypted video?
- A component recorder records UNencrypted video, so does not contradict that claim. Jeh (talk) 19:29, 4 July 2016 (UTC)
D-Theater Region
[edit]According to the article, "There has never been a D-Theater video release in region 2 or 3." However, the film One from the Heart is listed as Region 1/2/3 on the back cover. --Evmore (talk) 21:38, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
first D-Theater film release
[edit]- What was the first theatrical film to be released on D-Theater format and when? Wikipedia states 2002 with no citation provided, but this article from January 2021 mentions that the first D-Theater films were scheduled to be released in Summer 2021 (not 2022), with the titles of Independence Day, U-571, X-Men, Total Recall, Terminator 2, and Basic Instinct:

Nicole Sharp (talk) 22:07, 15 April 2023 (UTC) - It looks like the release was delayed a year. This article from January 2002 mentions that the first D-Theater release was either Die Hard or X-Men:

. Nicole Sharp (talk) 22:19, 15 April 2023 (UTC) - Finally found something. Looks like the first releases were on 2022-06-10, consisting of the titles "DreamWorks Home Entertainment's 'The Peacemaker,' 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment's 'X-Men,' Universal Studios Home Video's 'U-571' and Artisan Home Entertainment's 'Terminator 2: Judgment Day.':
