GA nomination failed

[edit]

It failed for these reasons :

  • the use of not giving up easily is not NPOV.
  • Necessity of One of the things consistent among most of the Pokémon games—spanning from Pokémon Red and Blue on the Nintendo Game Boy to the un-released Nintendo DS game, Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, is the choice of three different Pokémon at the start of the player's adventures; these three are often labelled "Starter Pokémon". Players can choose a Water-type, a Fire-type, or a Grass-type Pokémon indigenous to the region; an exception to this rule is Pokémon Yellow (a remake of the original games that follows the story of the Pokémon anime), where players are given a Pikachu—an Electric-type mouse famous for being the mascot of the Pokémon media franchise. in the In the video games in the article about Combusken as it should be in an article about the video game but not in this article.
  • Same comment as above for The Pokémon anime series and films are a set of adventures separate from most other versions of Pokémon, featuring Ash Ketchum as the main character, and following his quest to become a Pokémon Master – though what constitutes a Master is somewhat ambiguous. He and his companions travel around the Pokémon world battling other Pokémon trainers. in the In the Pokémon anime section.
  • Same comment as above for In the Pokémon Trading Card Game in the In the Pokémon Trading Card Game section.
    • These three kinda-Lead proses to the lead sections aren't necessary if the title is a wikilink or if these details are blended into the real section information directly addressing Combusken. See In the manga section as it clearly does what i say.

It was well documented and well written though some minor things can be addressed to make it better. Lincher 01:56, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A quick response before I go to class.
  • The sentence with "...not giving up easily," is sourced from the Pokédex. Is that a quote from the Pokédex? If so, it can stay if it's treated as a citation, like so: "...'not giving up easily,' according to the Pokédex."
  • The three leading sections that were selected appear in other Pokémon articles. They do appear a tiny bit off-topic, and it's annoying to say the least to see them on other articles. However, Torchic became GA, and has the same sections. Bulbasaur is FA, and instead of those leaders it has less-wikified prose instead. I would personally suggest working towards prose. Keep in mind that you are writing for all English-speaking people, but don't bog the article down with too many dense wikilinks, and try not to appear like "fancruft."
  • Read the WP:MOS, and please don't wikilink section titles. It's bad practice, and the Manual of Style explicitly forbids it.
I don't necessarily agree with Lincher with regards to GA status, but I am curious as to whether or not some of the copied content from other pages can be merged better. - Corbin Be excellent 13:16, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

failed GA 2

[edit]

Sorry, but I failed this because of these faults:

  • Doesn't explain what a stage-1 pokemon is at any point, may be bad for those unfamiliar to pokemon.
  • The second and third paragraphs of the anime section need some cleanup, and also need to explain a little more for those unfamiliar to pokemon.

that's about it, I guess.--Ac1983fan (talkcontribs) 21:08, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The second and third paragraphs do not need cleanup, they are a minor variation of those in a Featured article. Highway Rainbow Sneakers 21:11, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The third one does. It has no explanation of who Nurse Joy is, or even a pokecenter. Add a sentence about that and the paragraph should be fine.--Ac1983fan (talkcontribs) 21:22, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It is linked. Highway Rainbow Sneakers 21:24, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
So? It still needs a little bit of explaination. For example, you couldn't write an article about Bill Gates and simply link to microsoft, you have to provide at least a little info about it.--Ac1983fan (talkcontribs) 21:30, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
But they link directly ¬_¬ Highway Rainbow Sneakers 21:40, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I know. But, if you're reading a paper encyclopedia, and a term or word comes up that you don't understand, you don't want to have to go looking around for the meaning of it, right? Just one sentence would suffice.--Ac1983fan (talkcontribs) 21:51, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This isn't a paper encyclopedia. -ZeroTalk 15:13, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I thought the ultimate goal of wikipedia was to become a print encyclopedia.--Ac1983fan (talkcontribs) 15:24, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This isn't nominated to go on any CDs (or even close) but I'll try and fix it. Highway Rainbow Sneakers 15:21, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
And yet every good article seems to be in the CD category.--Ac1983fan (talkcontribs) 15:24, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
