Unusual name

[edit]

I don't understand why this person's name is written as Chen Tsu-li. Was there a romanization system that would have spelled it this way? I doubt it- where's the 'e' or 'eh' part? Is there a variant reading of 烈 as ㄌㄧˋ? I can't find it anywhere, but it does seem at least possible. Even if it were though, ㄌㄧˋ is lih4 in Wade Giles. I can only imagine that in 1956, somebody miswrote his name and that the last letter or two got clipped off. Either that or he wanted it this way for some reason. Maybe it's not from Mandarin? But I doubt it- this name was used in 1956. Geographyinitiative (talk) 04:20, 16 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. All of the sources in the article support the current name. Do you have other sources? Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 09:30, 16 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
烈 is romanized as "lie" in pinyin and "li" in his name. There is nothing in dispute here. Sinobball (talk) 12:22, 2 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
