Channel Only Article[edit]
I have moved all channel relation content from the Seven Network article to this article. This is similar to what I have previously done for the ABC TV, and SBS TV articles. The Channel Nine and Channel Ten articles will be modified shortly.Stickeylabel 09:51, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
- Why? "Channel Seven" is not a name the channel currently uses. It calls itself the "Seven Network" or "Seven" as in "Seven Melbourne". "Seven Network" isn't the name of the controlling company, that the Seven Media Group. matturn 13:11, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
- I think your getting confused with names used on-air as opposed to official names. "Channel Seven" is used extensively on-air and is referred to as such in various official material. This seems to be a recurring discussion, however I will state this again; Channel Seven is a channel operated by a network called the Seven Network, which is owned and controlled by the Seven Media Group, which is half owned by a company called Seven Network Limited. Seven Melbourne is a station operated by the Seven Network which broadcasts Channel Seven. These are distinct differences (see Television network, Television station, Television channel). - Seven Network is the network. Channel Seven is a channel operated by the Seven Network. C7 Sport used to be another channel part-operated by the Seven Network. If multi-channeling was to begin there'd be a possibility that Seven Network could run a whole range of channels - but for now they just have Channel Seven. It's pretty simple to understand. TV Guide[edit]
We're adding episode titles to the guide in Programming now? This is getting ridiculous. From WP:NOT, Wikipedia is not a TV/Radio Guide. --Tntnnbltn 06:39, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
- I agree, the schedule does not belong on wikipedia. The article already contains a summary of the programs broadcasted on Channel Seven, so I see the schedule as unnecessary. Stickeylabel 09:20, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
The TV guide was recently updated to include accurate program genres and programming information, to accompany the already present programming information. However, episodic information is unneccasary, when a link is placed to an official up-to-date source. The article has been reverted, and until this issue has been resolved, do not revert back. - I was the one who first changed the schedule template. The new format is based on the American networks' article. (See NBC#Current schedule, CBS#Current schedule, Fox#Current schedule, ABC#Current schedule). The template is meant to be encyclopaedic, showing the general programming of the network. It's not meant to list specific episodes; that's what tv guides are for. --Tntnnbltn 07:08, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, so I went overboard with the schedule and I am sorry. I normally tend to be protective of my edits especially if I put alot of effort into them. How about a compromise. How about we drop the episode names, special notes and specific time periods and call it a deal.

- The major issue I have with your version, is that it consumes nearly double the space the more condensed version uses:

Also, exact programming information, does not positively add to the article. As previously stated, a comprehensive television guide is available at the official website. The sole purpose of television schedules on wikipedia, are to give the reader an insight into the types of programming and scheduling the channel uses. The schedule should not be updated weekly, nor should it contain specific one-off movie or event type programming, as it is irrelavent. The scedule also acts as a useful tool for the reader, as they see what specific programming genre the channel mostly uses. The order of days should also begin with Sunday, as Sunday is the start of the ratings week. Stickeylabel 09:06, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
i think the 7.00 o-clock timelot should be added within the scheduale timetable...the 7pm timeslot is higly fought withint he big three networks, and are essencial lead-in's towards the 7.30-8.30pm block.what do you think? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rustry surfer (talk • contribs)
I've changed the schedule to include the 6pm, 6:30pm and 7pm slots, and I've taken out the 10:30 and 11pm slots. The early slots are higher rating and much more notable than the later slots. I realise that from an Australian point-of-view, these slots are mostly useless because they are well known. But for international readers, I think it's much more important to show these slots than whatever programming gets shafted to post-10:30. The reason I didn't include both is because it starts causing display problems at lower resolutions, which is something we want to avoid. --Tntnnbltn 11:21, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
i still think that the 10.30 slot could be included...shows such as 24 & Boston Legal screen in this timeslot, and could be included.
Start times from 6:30[edit]
6:30 is a major time slot for ratings, not only today tonight etc but Australias got talent, celeb dog school. why not include in guide, doesnt look complete...

i think the 6.00 should go, and insted ONLY the 10.30 timeslot should be include...with both 24 & Boston Legal on at these times, other wiki uses might be intrested in the fact these head-line US shows screen so late. yes or no?--Rusty_surfer
Outline Primetime shows, "Beautiful Sunday" etc???[edit]

- Please then add a sentence stating the Beautiful Sunday lineup, in the programming section. The schedule should not include the 6:30pm or 7:00pm timeslot, and a list is unneccassary. Thanks. Stickeylabel 10:26, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Channel History[edit]
there is a quite obvious lack of history/information on the channel, as is the case with Nine & Ten. ok so we all know Nine dominated the other two for the last 30 years, but lets get some history about the channel added. things like hit or miss shows, when they gave other stations a run-for-their money and general ratings history. the Network Seven page is more for corporate history, i.e takeover's, new CEO's etc.

- Would it be possible that it could be made more encyclopedic? At the moment it has a great deal of useful content, but reads more like a commentary than a neutral article. I donn't have time to spend on it right now however I may sometime soon. timgraham 13:07, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
