A fact from Bolaji Akinyemi appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 31 October 2007. The text of the entry was as follows:

Ethnicity
[edit]I think he's Yoruba for several reasons. One, he's from Osun, a heavily Yoruba state. Two, 'Akinyemi' sounds Yoruba. Three, the Thisday article says:
Though Akinyemi has for much of his life been committed to "internationalism", today, he is largely identified with the politics of Afenifere. Until recently, he was among those 'warriors' who fought against the tyranny of the dictatorship of the military regime of General Sani Abacha. So he was referred to as a chieftain of NADECO (National Democratic Coalition). Both NADECO and Afenifere are regarded as Yorubacentric political groupings.
But still, it would be original research to put him in Category:Yoruba people just based on this, so I'll keep looking for something that definitively calls him a Yoruba. Picaroon (t) 07:05, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

Interesting piece
[edit]This is an interesting opinion piece on Akinyemi's career - alas, it shouldn't be cited. Picaroon (t) 07:14, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
