picture[edit]

Is there an iPhone as the picture to ensure neutrality and avoid pinning down on RIM? Kushal (talk) 17:53, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, this picture simply was available. While the condition has been dubbed "Blackberry thumb," it applies to users of all brands of smartphones. I wanted the image to be that of someone using their thumb on any kind of smartphone, and another article already contained this one. Tatterfly (talk) 01:09, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the answer. Kushal (talk) 17:07, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding pictures of phones with virtual keyboard since there's no proved link between virtual keyboards and virtual (touch screen) keyboards, due to a different use pattern. If a picture is desired, please add one of a smartphone with physical keyboard. 76.183.7.59 (talk) 19:45, 26 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thumb Surgery[edit]

It seems that the article linked to as reference #6 is specifically saying not to have the thumb surgery. According to the article - "I must say that this tendon transfer surgery is 'nuts'." Bwe1862 (talk) 00:27, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The references given, as of now, are not sufficiently relevant; the material in this section sounds alarmist. The journal articles cited are about severe arthritis, not repetitive-strain injury. 129.186.86.116 (talk) 01:06, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is an article about RSI, not BlackBerrys[edit]

Further, it is not a term in the common lexicon. It should be merged with the Repetitive strain injury article.

Also adding an iPhone to claim impartiality is comical at best.

DivideBYZero69 (talk) 17:43, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This article was split from Repetitive strain injury. While it is not about Blackberries themselves, the term "Blackberry Thumb" has come into the language and has stuck. It has pretty much become an official term. Tatterfly (talk) 22:08, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree. An article of this type is more suited to Urban Dictionary than Wikipedia.

It should be merged back into RSI. —Preceding unsigned comment added by DivideBYZero69 (talkcontribs) 22:48, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I still disagree. This is a fully-sourced article with 14 references, in which the sources define the disorder under that name. It is a phenomenom of its own. Therefore, it meets WP:N guidelines. Tatterfly (talk) 00:12, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Most, if not all of the articles reference other conditions, most notably RSI. I challenge the 'fully sourced' claim based on those grounds. It is NOT a phenomenon of it's own, as this condition can be brought on by repetitive use of any small item. DivideBYZero69 (talk) 20:17, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It is possible that the references that came later are so. But I created this article (as an article after it already was a redirect), and I searched for the sources by googling the term "Blackberry Thumb." Tatterfly (talk) 21:12, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This article is well sourced and the term is growing in usage, not diminishing. It should remain a standalone article. Just as all dogs are mammals, not all mammals are dogs. This shouldn't be merged into RSI. --Mandra Oleka (talk) 18:01, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Does massage really help?[edit]

Massage may help the Blackberry thumb for a little while but long term... Well lets just say that massage doesnt cure everything... I need some opinions if people dont mind doing a quick type up... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 170.164.50.119 (talk) 00:54, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
