Habitat/range
[edit]This article doesn't mention habitat or range, which is some of the more basic information needed on a fish. I don't know it myself, so if someone could find it, it would improve the article. Thanks,Wldcat (talk) 17:59, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
The known range includes at least the entirety of the coast of Uruguay and Northern Argentina. It is the quarry of most surf-casters in those regions. I am intrigued by this fish because it tastes an awful lot like "Chilean Sea Bass" aka Patagonian Toothfish - which is desperately overfished and at threat of extinction. Known in Uruguay and Argentina as 'Corvina Negra', it would appear that the Latin name is Pogonias Cromis, but I have read conflicting reports suggesting that Corvina Negra is in fact Sciaena Umbra200.108.239.12 (talk) 03:22, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
Size claims
[edit]This article says Black drum are the largest species in the family Sciaenidae, but fishbase lists a number of species as as much larger, with Argyrosomus regius reaching 103 kg (around 200 lb), nearly twice the weight stated in this article. This statement should therefore be changed. Kare Kare (talk) 05:27, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Picture
[edit]I added a picture of a black drum to show some more detail and fixed the Sheepshead link. Chaotic42 (talk) 20:00, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
