Joseph/Dupree Kirkpatrick

[edit]

In the History section of this article, it reads: The area currently known as Bemus Point was first settled by William Bemus in 1806. Bemus, an ancestor of Joseph Kirkpatrick, had purchased land on both sides of Chautauqua Lake from the Land Company in 1805 at a cost of $1.50. It has also said Dupree Kirkpatrick in place of Joseph. Neither individual is mentioned elsewhere in the article. Who is this person and why do we care that Bemus was his ancestor? I've deleted this line but it keeps getting re-added. Without further explanation as to why it is necessary I am compelled to remove it again. Thanks. --JBC3 (talk) 01:03, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
