Contestants?

[edit]

With all due respect to my colleague Rtkat3 — who made the subhead change from "Characters" — calling these characters "contestants" really is not the best or most accurate way we could say this. Aracde treats it as a game, but he's psychotic. Objectively it's not a game, but torture chamber of young people forced to kill each other. Obviously, something similar is called a game in The Hunger Games, but that book makes it clear that the title is ironic and that it's about government-sanctioned punishment dressed up as "games" to make it palatable. The Hunger Games is a satire in that respect. Since several editors kept the term "Characters" and only two so far are in step with "Contestants," I don't think we have any consensus for the latter.

Also — and again, with all respect to TriiipleThreat, one of the best editors in WikiProject:Comics — a reality-show like table of "contestants" "eliminated" really isn't the most accurate way of conveying what's happening, which is that people are being killed. (I know it's "comics killed," but these are fairly minor characters and many of them may stay dead.) I'd really like to see us work on a way to provide information in a simple, straightforward way that doesn't give off the false connotation of a reality game. --Tenebrae (talk) 20:39, 18 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I was just trying something out, feel free to revert.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 20:42, 18 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
And your new way phrasing it and your notations in the table are better than what I could have come up with; I was still thinking of a good way to put it, and you beat me to just the right thing. Direct, straightforward, factual ... I wasn't kidding when I said you're one of the best editors here! --Tenebrae (talk) 23:40, 19 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Violative plot

[edit]

The insanely long plot grossly violates WikiProject Comics guidelines that we do not do hyper-detailed, blow-by-blow fictography. That plot has to be cut down significantly. If the editor(s) who wrote all this want first crack at trimming it, I'll be glad to wait a few days before going at it myself. --Tenebrae (talk) 19:31, 10 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
