Resurrection from synonymy

[edit]

I understand that this species was considered a synonym of A. mexicanus for a long time, but persistent modern references to it since its redescription in 2017 speak to its validity as a species, especially considering that it is the namesake of an entire clade within Astyanax. Therefore, I've deleted the redirect to the Mexican tetra, and remade the page entirely. If there are any modern studies refuting this stance, please let me know - I'd be fascinated to see them, and to possibly correct the page.

This genus is a phyletic disaster, but I say that affectionately. Snugglyaggron (talk) 03:34, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
