Single cover

@U990467: Do you have an AllAccess account? If you go to the main page after you log in, then go to Music to Cool New Music under Top 40/M, it will show "Army", as well as the cover. ilovemusic (Talk To Me!) 16:30, 30 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Ilovechristianmusic: I have changed your cover into an offical one which is released by Official Charts Company. I also found the US edition single cover: (here) and (here). But I can't find the offical source. Can you help me? —U990467 13:54, 30 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@U990467: I've been searching for a while, and like you, have mostly found unreliable sources for the image I uploaded, except for the AllAccess website (which requires an account) and BBC's website.[1] If you would like, I can ping a few other editors to give their input. ilovemusic (Talk To Me!) 20:36, 30 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Also the image you uploaded, the one from the Remixes EP, isn't the NA single cover either. Usually a remix EP cover differs from the actual single cover, and I'm pretty sure it's promotional, due to a promo CD single floating around on the internet. ilovemusic (Talk To Me!) 21:24, 30 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The cover shown on the website you put is for promotional release. They still used original "On My Mind" single cover, too. And the links I put both indicate that cover for remixes is also used for North American single cover. Sometimes a remixes cover is also used as single cover. Like Mirror Man by Ella Henderson: here. @3family6, Livelikemusic, SNUGGUMS, and Chasewc91: I've pinged a few editors to get their input. BBC has been used quite a bit for music and radio on Wiki, and I haven't read anything that states that BBC isn't a reliable resource, whereas the two websites you had sourced are from unreliable sources. ilovemusic (Talk To Me!) 15:08, 1 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ummm...I didn't say that BBC is not reliable. I mean that the cover you have provided is originally used for promotional release. Also, I knew that the two sources I put are not reliable, but it seemed true. So just wait... U990467 (talk) 15:55, 1 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Why not just use this cover since it comes from an actual single release of the song? The point of including single covers in song articles, per most FURs, is visual identification for the reader. Most readers aren't going to know about some obscure AllAccess or BBC artwork sent to radio programmers. Chase (talk | contributions) 16:53, 1 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Chasewc91—the EP cover is more widely used and it's actually attached to a major commercial release of the song. Also, I reckon the North American remixes cover (pink text against blue background) should be removed as it fails WP:NFCCP#8. snαp snαp (talk) 19:43, 1 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The single cover is more important than the EP cover because there is no studio version of the song on that EP. Army EP is aslo a remixes extended play. And many sources have said that it's actually American single cover since sometimes a remixes cover is also used as single cover. Like Mirror Man by Ella Henderson: here. If that cover is truly for American single release, it doesn't fail that policy. U990467 (talk) 23:35, 1 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I see what you're saying U990467, but the one with pink text and blue background is a remix EP as well, and the other sources are unreliable. Even the Josep Vinaixa link shows two alternate covers – the one I uploaded and the blue and pink one. I agree with Chase and SnapSnap about the EP cover. ilovemusic (Talk To Me!) 00:29, 2 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Although the EP cover was first uploaded by me, I still think that we can remove it since we have another official cover which is provided by Official Charts Company. It will be quite strange if we only remove one of the two remixes cover but still keep another one. U990467 (talk) 04:04, 2 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There's a good chance that the cover posted by Official Charts is promotional as well. Look at ARIA Chart's website. Quite a few of the single covers on their site are promotional, ex. "Out of the Woods", "Style", etc. www.australian-charts.com shows two covers for the single as well. The EP cover and a single cover from Polydor Records.[2] ilovemusic (Talk To Me!) 21:57, 2 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You have no source to prove that the cover released by OCC is for promotional release. This cover was also released when the song started to climb on singles chart as a British single from the album. (here) Actually, the single cover is far better than the remixes EP cover (you also agree with it). To avoid edit war, I'll keep both 2 covers and wait for more discussion. In fact, single covers on Hung Medien are referred to Wikipedia. And so do Discogs. U990467 (talk) 08:30, 5 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Then may I ask you how you know that the cover I originally uploaded is promotional, considering it can be found on Hung Median, Discogs, AllAccess, and BBC Radio? There is only one source – Official Charts – that uses the cover that you are using. Why not just go ahead and use the EP cover, due to it being more widely used and there being many sources to back up the use of the image. ilovemusic (Talk To Me!) 12:49, 5 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You can see the release history of "Army" and check the album's page history (here). It indicated that "Army" was a promotional single at first. The song was released as promotional single like "Something in the Way You Move" and "Lost and Found", and you will also find that these three promotional single covers are all same style.

"Army EP" is a remixes. The studio version of the song is not on the EP just like "On My Mind EP" (here). Coverage of the image is also not a valid reason. For example, original "On My Mind" single cover (here) is more widely used than the newer one (here). But they still chose the newer one which used the same typeface with the album. We can keep both two covers like Revival (Selena Gomez album), which both deluxe and standard edition cover shared the same coverage. U990467 (talk) 15:19, 5 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but "Army" didn't have a promotional cover, due to it being a part of the Delirium album pre–order, or at least this was true for the US pre–order of the album. "On My Mind" has it's own official single cover, so there wasn't any real reason to use the remixes cover, unlike "Army", where there are two remix EPs, and two covers which may or may not be promotional.

Comment: I'm in favor of using the Remix EP due to it being more widely used and having reliable sources to back it up. ilovemusic (Talk To Me!) 18:31, 5 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The cover you uploaded was first floating around on the net when the song was released as a pre-order promotional single from the album (about October 2015) (here). Commonly, it can be seen with "Something In The Way You Move" and "Lost and Found" promotional single covers. And the most important — both promotional single cover and EP cover had been used on this page before the OCC cover being released. So that is the reason why you can see these two covers being shown on many websites. It's just because EP cover was released much earlier than the OCC cover. U990467 (talk) 00:20, 6 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

That's fine. Go ahead and use the OCC cover. I'm just gonna drop this, as it has been time consuming for the both of us, and the users I pinged must not have seen anything that needed a consensus. ilovemusic (Talk To Me!) 13:14, 6 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
