Vanchipaattu (Boat song)

[edit]

The Aranmula Boat Race is not a race but it is a fiesta (Carnival) in Kerala. Only in 1972 races were added to the programme. The Vanchipaattu is still using the old rhythm and so is different from the others that have started lately in Kerala. I have witnessed this fiesta a number of times.
