Sources[edit]

Can anyone provide any sources for this? If so, you would have my thanks. --Arcaynn 08:25, 21 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Patented?[edit]

Any indication that this 30-pin dock connector is patented? Or can anyone manufacturer it without license? ---Ransom (--71.4.51.150 16:11, 16 August 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Dock Connector compatibility[edit]

Are other MP3 (non-iPod) players compatible with the doc connector...? ie: could one use an iPod docking station with other MP3 players> Which ones? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.211.70.84 (talk) 09:30, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm pretty sure the iPod and iPhone (and accessories) are the only devices to use the dock connector. Photographerguy (talk) 23:59, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Component video[edit]

"The S-Video output has been replaced by a component (YUV) output at the iPod Touch and iPhone models, outputting 480i signals." This should be clarified and placed in the table. e.g., which pins do what, and how does s- video now work with the new iPods? --Rehcsif (talk) 19:58, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability and reliability[edit]

This subject of this article is not the subject of numerous reliable source references. Without the pin-out it only amounts to a few sentences. The material may be better off in the iPod or other spin-out article from iPod.

Pinouts are generally how-to information, not encyclopedic information. The big chart is not really suitable material for Wikipedia.

pinouts.ru and ipodlinux.org are other wikis that have user editable content. They are not reliable sources for that reason, but also are not mainstream sources. They are the only sources used in the article.

This material is probably better of being merged elsewhere. Miami33139 (talk) 23:04, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
