Is this the best way of defining an appellee? That the lower court ruled in its favor? It is possible that the lower court ruled in a way that is not in favor of either party. Sometime the lower court might rule in favor of party A, but not as much as A would have liked, and so A becomes the appellant, not the appellee. Might it not be better to say that the appellee is the one who responds to an appeal, as opposed to the one who requests it? I'm not confident enough about this to make the change myself.
