Add Amati Logo to Article

[edit]

I noticed that a copy of the Amati logo exists on the Wikimedia Commons at File:Firmenlogo der Mazda-Automobilmarke Amati.svg with the licensing info stating it is in the public domain. However, I noticed it was in this article before and was removed by an editor due to trademark concerns so I am a little hesitant to just add it back. It it believable that Mazda may still have the logo trademarked in the United States since it's common practice for corporations to maintain copyrights and trademarks on their discontinued products and defunct brand names just to sit on them and prevent anybody else from using them. However, I believe we can make a reasonable argument for fair use in this article along the same lines of why we include an example of the Lexus logo in the Lexus article. Not to mention, the Amati logo was only shown to the public and reproduced a few times in the year between Mazda announcing the brand and then cancelling it. Can anyone else provide some input/guidance on this? Reattacollector (talk) 15:50, 5 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

User:Yamla, you're pretty active in handling copyright related concerns, what are your thoughts? Reattacollector (talk) 15:52, 5 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like most of the "copyvio" is actually just quotes taken from a single source. These really need removed as the entire page reads like an essay or class project as opposed to an encyclopedia entry. --CNMall41 (talk) 23:03, 5 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
