Syntax

[edit]

"...he made the first observation of Sirius B in Cambridgeport, Massachusetts." One assumes that it was not Sirius B in Cambridgeport but the observer although this could then read as if Clark were the first in Cambridgeport to observe Sirius B. For the sake of clarity the place name ought to be located nearer the start of the sentence, ie before stating what Clark did. (Letting 'Sirius B' end the sentence would also heighten the importance of the deed.)

"The 18½ inch refracting telescope is now still being used at the landmark Dearborn..." 'Now' implies that the telescope has recently been moved to the landmark Dearborn... from another site where it may or may not have been in use. 'Still' suggests that it has been in continuous use at Dearborn if not from the first at least for quite some time. Which word should be omitted to give the correct meaning?
