Redirect where?[edit]

Since 1994 this page redirected to Iwama dojo. Recently (late 2010) it was redirected to Iwama Shin-Shin Aiki Shuren-kai without explanation.

Currently there exists only one link to here. It is in the article Morihei Ueshiba and refers to the dojo he built in Iwama (which as far as I can tell is the compound now called Ibaraki branch, though the actual building may have been renovated in the meantime). This should be obvious since the title of this page is the original name of that, the second most famous dojo in all of aikido. The article that has material on that topic is Iwama dojo.

In particular the link is not in any way referring to the recent (2004) minor independent organisation established by the second of the three (so far) subsequent head instructors at that dojo. I assume the changed redirect was a case of honest confusion: they both are in Iwama (in fact, this organisation is based in a dojo next door to the former Aiki Shuren Dojo) and they both use "Aiki Shuren" in their name (no doubt this organisation chooses so deliberately in order to give itself connotations of authenticity). Even in the unlikely event that anyone on WP uses this title to search for the dojo of this latter organisation, the article with that content is still also Iwama dojo. The Iwama Shin-Shin Aiki Shuren-kai article is basically just a stub anyway, copying some content from articles like Morihiro Saito#Legacy and Iwama Ryu/Style/Sutairu (and it might well do better if merged with Hitohiro Saito).

For these reasons, reverting. Cesiumfrog (talk) 01:51, 19 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
