Merger proposal

[edit]

I propose merging the article Danger (Taemin song) into this one, Ace (Taemin album). Aside from charts, there's not a lot of substance in either article, and readers would benefit more from having one quality article rather than two small ones. Also, most songs don't merit articles of their own, per WP:SONGS, and should be included in their albums' articles usually. Shinyang-i (talk) 08:56, 27 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I oppose this suggestion. Although Danger is a song in the album "Ace", there are people who often think the title song is also the name of the album. So they only search "Taemin Danger Wikipedia". I think the best way is linking the article about Taemin's title track "Danger" to the article about his album called "Ace". I suggest this from my own experience. When I searched about Taemin's album, I typed "Danger Wikipedia Taemin". I didn't know about "Ace" and this article. Since Wikipedia is a website that helps people have more knowledge about different matters, why do we have to merge two articles about Danger and "Ace" together ? Isn't it more helpful to help people find out about the information they want to know by separating theses two articles? The article about Danger will lead people to the article about Taemin's Ace album. Also, I think the quality of both these two article are good enough. The above suggestion seems more like she/he wants to delete the article about "Danger" which is more popular and is searched more. Jealous fans often think like that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.242.116.130 (talk) 13:40, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Jealous? I don't even understand. You've sort of invalidated everything you said by making this a nonsensical personal attack. But anyway, if you look at Wikipedia policies, it says songs should only rarely have their own articles and strongly suggests they be merged into articles about larger subjects such as the album or artist article. Do you think "Danger" is really one of those rare songs that merits an article? And as far as the quality, actually neither article has the kind of detailed musical discussion that is desired for song or album articles. Do you have valuable information that could be added to either article to make them better? If not, then there's really no reason to oppose merging them to create one better article. As far as worrying about people not being able to find the articles, references to the song in other articles would wikilink to the album article, so that line of communication wouldn't be lost. Also, the song article title would redirect to the album article, so people typing it into the search bar would get to the album article. I don't think readers would have a decreased ability to find info on the song. Shinyang-i (talk) 06:28, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If I have said anything that offended you, then I am sorry for that. As from what you say, you seem like you assume that you are always the right person by asking a aerie of questions: "Do you think "Danger" is really one of those rare songs that merits an article? And as far as the quality, actually neither article has the kind of detailed musical discussion that is desired for song or album articles. Do you have valuable information that could be added to either article to make them better? If not, then there's really no reason to oppose merging them to create one better article." You don't know me. You are not a psychic who knows if I have any information to add or not, so please don't answer for me "If not, then there's really no reason to oppose merging them to create one better article." . And yes, I do have information. Thank you for encouraging me and I will add more information to the article of "Danger", and I will also add information to article of "Ace" if that is what you want me to do. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.242.116.130 (talk) 03:08, 31 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

As with your first post, you don't even make sense. I asked if you had info and said if you don't, then they should be merged. I'll be happy to see the information you add to the articles. Just make sure it all comes from reliable sources (including reviews) and is not trivial details about teasers and such. Also, please sign your posts, as required by WP:SIGNHERE. It's February 16 and neither article has been improved. The album article has literally TWO LINES of text. Since there is no opposition based in reality or Wikipedia guidelines, I am merging the two. Shinyang-i (talk) 04:46, 17 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
