Merge and consensus name for subject[edit]

There seems to be a dispute about the correct name (spelling) for the subject of this article. An article on the subject has existed at Abū Rayhān al-Bīrūnī since 2002. This article was created in June 2007, apparently by an editor who was not aware that there was already an article on the subject. This article — Abu ar-Rayhan Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Biruni — is a stub (~1700 bytes), whereas the Abū Rayhān al-Bīrūnī article has much more detail (~37,000 bytes).

Proposal:

  • I suggest that any content in this (Abu ar-Rayhan Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Biruni) article be merged into the longer existing, larger article.
  • Discussion about naming of the article should take place on the larger article's talk page — Talk:Abū Rayhān al-Bīrūnī.

Caution: Please do not edit war over this article. Keep in mind that Wikipedia's "Three-revert rule" (3RR policy) does not allow more than 3 reverts in 24 hours. (Please read the 3RR policy for details.

Note: If edit warring continues, I will protect this page.

His name is Abu ar-Rayhan Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Biruni‎. If to merge the articles then let's do it to correct name. --Polysynaptic (talk) 15:22, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
