First to introduce GPRS, WAP, MMS?
[edit]I find that hard to believe. My memory from that time is a bit shady, but I remember using GSM and WAP (over a data CSD connection) before Simobil even existed. Also the reference for that piece of information is from an advertisement brochure, written by a Simobil employee. Anyone has any better sources on that? Avian (talk) 19:39, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
- You're right. From Mobitel (Slovenia): "In addition to telephony, the existing network enabled also a series of additional services. In 2001, the company introduced GPRS data transfer, in 2002 the network started supporting MMS multimedia messages, since 2003, network users have been able to access multimedia content on the mobile portal Planet and, in December 2003, Mobitel launched the UMTS third generation network, the first in the world. - Well, this does not prove anything. However, a third-party ref would certainly be welcome. For example:
- GPRS: "Vendar pa tudi Si.Mobil, ki obvladuje zmerom večji tržni delež ne spi. Prvi v Sloveniji in med prvimi v Evropi so pričeli ponujati storitev paketnega prenosa podatkov GPRS." (Although also Si.mobil, which controls an ever larger part of market share, doesn't sleep. They were the first in Slovenia and among the first in Europe to offer the service of packet trasmission of data, GPRS.)
- MMS: "Komercialno jih prvi ponudi Si.mobil, vendar mu Mobitel takoj sledi." (It was commercially first offered by Si.mobil, but was immediately followed by Mobitel.)
- For GPS and WAP though, Mobitel was the first to market it. Slovenian Almanach 2001 (Slovenski almanah 2001), pg. 56: "Sredi julija je Mobitel začel tržiti svoje storitve WAP, Simobil pa je to storil v začetku oktobra" (In the middle of July, Mobitel started to market its WAP services; Simobil did so in the beginning of October.)[1]. --Eleassar my talk 08:01, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
- I've added this to the article. --Eleassar my talk 09:21, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
